What if AI Were Designed Around Human Potential, Not Human Limitations?

What if we are designing the human role in the age of AI backward?

We begin with the technology.

What can it do?

Which tasks can it absorb?

Where does it still need a person?

Then we design the human role around whatever remains.

Review the output.

Handle the exception.

Approve the decision.

Catch the mistake.

But what if human contribution is not the remainder?

What if we began somewhere entirely different?

Not with who the person is today.

Not with the limits of their current role.

But with who they could become when they can see more, learn faster, reach knowledge beyond their own experience, and explore possibilities that once felt too distant to pursue.

What new questions might they learn to ask?

What patterns could they begin to recognize?

What problems could they finally approach?

What could they create that their current work has never given them the time, information, or reach to imagine?

Human Intelligence is not fixed.

It keeps becoming through experience, relationship, challenge, and discovery.

Technology should not simply take work away from people.

It should expand what people have the opportunity to grow capable of.

That changes the design question.

We stop asking where a person still needs to remain involved.

We begin asking what relationship with technology could help that person become more than the work has ever asked them to be.

A design reflection:

If technology were designed around who people are still becoming, what might they discover is possible within themselves?
